For centuries we have been educated to work and think as machines: follow orders and instructions, reach goals, be productive, be efficient, improve performance, reduce costs, be on time for everything, minimize risk and failure, put results over people etc.
New machines and AI will gladly take our place in demonstrating these attributes. So where does this leave us? What will we be expected to do at work now?
The employees of the future are expected to be creative, take risks, challenge the status quo, be good leaders, take initiative, embrace failure, connect with your team and your customers, demonstrate emotional intelligence and compassion, be open to new ideas and think differently.
In essence, we are expected to be human and to do the exact opposite of what we were taught to do in school and of what we learned from our upbringing and from the dominant culture.
While this should make us excited and hopeful about the future, most people are afraid of it because of the uncertainty and ambiguity of what it means to actually be human. Due to our social, cultural and educational conditioning, it’s very hard to embrace such a notion, especially since this has mostly been a question reserved for artists and philosophers, not for regular folks and especially not business people. But that is about to change…
The purpose of UNFOLD is to help the next generation of entrepreneurs, leaders, educators and change makers reconnect with their human side and rediscover their innate human abilities such as: creativity, leadership, storytelling, empathy, innovation, authenticity and emotional intelligence.
Our Story and Mission
UNFOLD started off in early 2015 in Bucharest, Romania, under the name of Stai Sa-ti Povestesc. Back then the main focus was to promote Storytelling as a method to let go of our preconceived ideas of what it means to be human and to bring people together in an authentic way. Some people thought that the idea was a bit too childish or naive for a pragmatic and profit-driven business world, but it soon turned out not to be the case.
In less than 2 years we took this approach to TEDx University of Piraeus and TEDx Bacau in 2015, we worked with several big companies across Europe such as Accenture, Oracle, NELT Group, Optymyze, Symbiotics, as well as with educational NGOs and initiatives such as Teach for Romania, AIESEC, ReStartEdu, The Alternative University and we managed to put Storytelling on the map of the business world in Romania.
Starting 2017, our mission is to help the business world across Europe reconnect with its purpose, its values and innate abilities to bring generate change and innovation and to readjust its course as it proceeds to create a better world for the next generations. A world that celebrates common humanity, courage, authenticity, connection and sustainable development.

“Every business has lots of stories to share and discover: its own history of challenges and achievements, the stories of its employees, as well as the stories of its customers. Building on these stories fosters a healthy company culture and earns the trust and respect of its customers. Very much looking forward to meet you and to unravel these stories together.”
